Recently, nearly 20 people were injured after the passenger bus they were riding in was involved in a serious accident. The crash occurred when the double-decker bus slammed into the back of a semi-truck that had come to a stop on a freeway in Indiana, while en route from Chicago to Atlanta. The truck had stopped due to construction in the area and the bus driver apparently failed to stop in time to avoid a collision.
There were 63 passengers on the bus and 19 of those people were hurt. While none of the passengers’ injuries appeared to be life-threatening all of the injured people were taken to nearby hospitals for evaluation. The cause of the crash is still under investigation and authorities did not know why the 50-year-old female driver of the bus failed to stop along with the other vehicles around her. The bus company is working with authorities and according to reports the bus will undergo an inspection to determine if there were any mechanical issues.
